Sometimes I'm never satisfied. I always want more. But not more material things. I think the best things in life are the things that money can't buy. The things I want more of are.. more time spent with friends and family, meeting more people, having more deep connections with people, to learn more, to experience more, to travel more, to live more, even to help more. I get bored easily when I'm alone and I never want to stay in one place for that long. Don't get me wrong I am so thankful for the people I do have in my life, the things I do experience and learn, and the places I do get to go.
But the reason I always want more is not because I am not thankful for what I have, it is because I have a passion to make the most out of this one short life that I have. I want to experience as much as I can, travel to as many places I can, and learn as much I can about this world and the people in it. I want to meet and help people as much as possible. I get bored easily because I know how short life can be and I don't want to waste time. You never know what could happen next, so you have to make every second count. This post is full of cheesy cliche statements but these are things I really believe and have experienced myself.
Some philosophers have said that it is better to not desire or have passion for anything at all because it causes disappointment and suffering. It is true that sometimes my desires and passions have caused me disappointment but to me it is worth it. These disappointments make it that much better when things do go right. My passions and desires give me meaning to my life. I think passion is just a part of the human experience, and maybe even one of the best parts. So even though never being satisfied can be seen as being a bad thing, I'm not going to stop wanting more. My passion and desire for wanting more cause me to pursue my dreams, work for what I want out of life and this makes me happy. My passion to travel caused me to sign up for a volunteer trip to help cheetahs in South Africa. From this trip I will get to meet new people , build new connections, learn more about a different culture, experience things that I have never done before, travel to new places that I have never been before, and I will help cheetahs from becoming extinct. This adventure gives me a little of almost everything I want more of. South Africa will be a life changing adventure that I will never forget.
